Whether you choose GCSE Art & Design or GCSE Art Textiles, the process of experimentation is a vital part of each course. We will encourage you to explore different materials and techniques, challenge you to experiment innovatively, support you to become a creative risk taker and teach you how to push the boundaries of your ideas. Why choose GCSE Art or Textiles?

If you enjoy being imaginative & creative, want to increase your practical skills and improve your communication and research abilities, Art and Textiles are a great choice. Art and Design is a way of seeing things and making sense of the world around you. Art Textiles introduces you to the world of contemporary design, fashion & textiles techniques. Both courses can help you with further study and prepare you for the world of work.
Alongside improving your practical expertise, you’ll also learn how to: develop, refine and record your ideas, present a personal response that realises your creative intentions, use visual language and the formal elements.

Both courses consist of a series of workshops and two main personal projects. Project 1 is worth 60% of your final grade. Project 2 is worth 40% of your final grade.
On the Art & Design course, you will explore a broad range of specialisms including; Fine Art, Photography & Digital skills, 3D, Mixed Media and Textiles.

On the Art Textiles course, you will explore a broad range of specialisms including; weave, embroidery, ragging, print, mixed media, fashion illustration and much more.
In addition to your lessons, there are lots of other opportunities to get involved in Art & Textiles! These include:

Visit our vibrant capital city and immerse yourself in art exhibitions, galleries and museums.
